Just A Thing
I'm just a 'thing' that lickshines people's dirty feet out on the streets. The vast majority of passers-by simply ignore me. But female patrons of the ladies' restroom will often stop by me for a lick and a shine of their dirty shoes or boots as they exit the facility, though they rarely speak to me.
I'm just a 'thing' - a non-entity |
I am completely ignored by most of the good people who pass by |
Only patrons of the restroom facilities are likely to stop and use me |
Like this superb young woman with her black boots and red socks |
It's nice that her red socks match her red hair |
Not that her hairstyle is any of my damn business! |
My job is merely to lickshine her boots! |
She watches me at my humble work... |
...making sure I tongue-attend to BOTH her boots! |
Her boots and socks are better than me |
So it is right that I should have to bow my head before them |
I dare not look up at her leg above the sock... |
...lest I anger her and incur her female wrath! |
She leaves without having said a word to me |
And rightly so - for I'm just a 'thing' |
And one doesn't converse with 'things' |
Especially lowly, down in the dirt 'things'! |
I keep my humble head bowed as her boots depart from my face |
I am not worthy to even breathe the same air as her boots! |
She, on the other hand, holds her pretty head high |
And rightly so. For she is not a 'thing'. She's a person! |
