I am frightened of dogs - especially when they are watching me pay homage to their mistresses' footwear. For it must be abundantly clear to the animal who is at the bottom of the 'food chain': at the top - is clearly the mistress; then the dog; then me (unless there are any rats or insects around, in which case I am below them too!) Fortunately, in the present case I appear to have satisfied both the mistress and her pet dog with my humble sneaker-kissing efforts - so I live to kiss feet another day!

There is surely nothing that symbolises the superiority of the female over the male more than the sight of a bright and smartly-dressed, young woman having her high-heels lickshined by a dirty, common footslave out on the streets? He dare not even look at her nylon-stockinged legs as she leaves his menial mouth, so conscious is he of his unworthiness in the face of such sophisticated beauty. Meanwhile, for her part, the bright young woman has nothing but contempt for the vile creature that has just tasted where she has been walking. And rightly so!

He's just another piece of street furniture - for people to use and abuse as they see fit. And rightly so!

The local resident humiliates the municipal humble-head by making him 'sniff the pretty rose' on her dainty house slipper. Although the fool promptly buries his nose in the decorative, red plastic flower, all he can really smell is the aroma of her plain black sock. As she turns and walks away from him, he rues the fact that he never even got to kiss her on the sock!
