The ‘Public Socks Adjuster’ slave is just that – a slave
employed full-time to adjust the socks of members of the public who can’t be bothered
to stoop down in order to adjust or straighten their own socks.
It is considered a privileged position for a slave, as
touching a master or mistress’s socks is normally reserved for ‘personal’ or ‘private’
slaves within Gynarchy households.
However, for most public sock adjusters, it doesn’t feel
like a privilege. It feels humiliating, especially the way they must become accustomed
to being spoken to, with the customer’s haughty orders barked down at them,
like they are a piece of dirt at their feet.
Which, of course, they are, even though their humble task
requires a great deal of slavish focus and concentration on the customer’s
superior sock – identifying where the creases are; ensuring proper alignment between
the two socks etc.
Needless to say, adjusting a customer’s socks is also a very
delicate operation, as the slave mustn’t inadvertently touch the master
or mistress’s skin, under pain of the WHIP!
