‘Would you like me to whip him for you, pretty lady?’ Regular prisoner-tormentress, Ms Mukta madam, has an important decision to make. Would she like the kindly, elderly gaoler to whip the prisoner-slave at her feet whilst she enjoys her ice-cream and has her dirty sneakers lickshined? For a young woman like Ms Mukta it’s a bit of a no brainer, really – of course she would!

It’s late evening and it’s raining heavily. The head-in-the-wall footslave is having great difficulty in cleaning his customer’s dirty sneakers – not so much because of the inclement weather, but because he is mesmerised and bewitched by the lines of thick, ribbed stitching in her dark brown, cotton anklesocks. Note how the customer-mistress does not converse with the slave. That’s because he is, quite literally, beneath her. Furthermore, she leaves the public humble head to get soaked in the rain, whilst continuing to protect her own pretty head from the elements with her umbrella. She clearly has no regard for the slave’s wellbeing – and quite right too. Her own wellbeing is all that matters.

The Japanese master and mistress enjoy breakfast whilst their slave kneels behind their feet, admiring the backs of his mistress’s Japanese socks and sandals. Note the many bamboo rods in the vicinity. I’ll wager this slave’s back is all too familiar with the mighty sting of the rod on his back – and rightly so; for slaves must be beaten. Note too the flowery, white patterns on the mistress’s flesh-toned, nylon socks, but don’t be fooled by their seemingly sweet fragrance. By the end of the day those nylon flowers will be smelling anything but sweet as they are soiled by the vinegary sweat from the mistress’s lovely footskin-pores. No wonder the slave looks humbled and contrite!

Needless to say, the slave is barred from partaking of alcoholic beverages. But he does get to follow his mistress to sneakered and socked heel when she goes out for a drink with her husband; and he does get to study the backs of her glorious grey socks as he kneels behind her heels at the bar, surrounded by his betters.

Everything is as it should be in the late-night Gynarchy of Barbaria. Two drunken, young, free women are cavorting on the ground in front of a prisoner-slave’s public facing cell – oblivious to the pain and frustration they are causing him by dint of their playful sneakers and socks being so near, and yet so far, from his confined face! Meanwhile a Gynarchy monk makes sure to add to the prisoner’s distress by pressing down with his manly, sandal-shod foot onto the kneeling prisoner’s back!
