Serious Business

I happen to know that regular customer-mistress, Ms Mukta madam, is extremely gregarious and friendly by nature. I know that because I often hear her conversing merrily with her friends on the phone, or in person. But she is never outgoing and friendly towards me – and nor should she be. I am just a wrinkly and whipped old slave-man, fit only to lickshine her boots. And lickshining a girl’s boots is a serious business. Hence her suitably stern and sullen demeanour towards me.

Concentrate on the top of my boot, stupid slave! And don’t touch the sock!’, she suddenly barks down at me from on high. I instantly obey, for in the case of a beautiful, young woman like Ms Mukta, her bark is most definitely as frightening as her bite!
