Variety is the Spice of a Public Footslave's Life

Variety is the spice of a public footslave’s humble life. Throughout the day he must deal with every conceivable kind of female footwear – from heavy, lace-up workboots; to smart shoes; to scruffy sneakers; to brightly-coloured ballet flats; to strappy sandals; to stylish ankleboots. He must show them all, and their pretty wearers, an equal degree of footslavish respect. For they are boots, shoes and sandals of his betters.

The matron of the house is next to use the lowly porch footslave before she heads off on her shopping trip. Her garb may be traditional, but her sneakers are very modern! It is such  an honour for the lowly, pathetic porch footslave to kiss madam's feet on her egress from her house He respects and admires her very much, even though she is often first in the household to reach for the WHIP! Happy Slappy Xmas!

The good-looking – indeed, some would say godlike-looking – Mondieu family, who originally hailed from Haiti but had emigrated some 3 years ago from Port au Prince to, appropriately enough, Port à la Princesse , a small town on the Gynarchy’s north-eastern seaboard, are gathered in the living-room of their modest, terraced house on Xmas day, enjoying their sumptuous, family-Xmas meal. They are: Monsieur Mondieu – the 53 year old head of the family (even though they are now living in the Gynarchy, old habits die hard; and the traditionally-reared, Haitian women of the family find it hard not to regard the man of the house as the continuing head of the family!)
