At Their Mercy

The prisoner-slave in the stocks really is at the mercy of everyone, and everything:
  • He is at the mercy of the local populace, who are enjoying his suffering
  • He is at the mercy of the whip – and the cruel dwarf man behind him who threatens to wield it
  • And later on, when night-time falls and the temperature drops, he is at the mercy of the elements – especially when the heavens open
Truly a fitting punishment for the recalcitrant and disrespectful slave!
